Current SunPod 2x150w HQI

Starting off with the sleek design the SunPod fixture is already attractive...then you read the specs. It does not stop there. Out of the box this fixture also runs very cool. The temperature in my "fish room" is not impacted as much as one would think.

Specifications and list of features can be found here:

Pros...

1. This light runs very cool.
2. Very sleek design.
3. The fixture is practically silent.
4. The engineering of the fixture is superior.

Cons...

1. Fixed bulb position somewhat limiting.
2. Fans can be loud or troublesome.

The Sunpod twin lamp fixture is designed well especially in regards to cooling. Heat is drawn away from the tank. Water temperature changes are minimal. Take note that I am using this fixture on a freshwater tank less than 10 hours a day.

The reflectors are excellent and leave no shadows on the 24" x 18" of tank floor beneath it. Light it pushed down into the tank. With the fixture mounted directly onto the tank rim light spill is limited.

The moonlighting cords on this fixture are detachable at the fixture. This is remedy for those of us with small holes in tank stands. Because Current did their homework I can plug in my moonlighting without an extension cord!

One thing negative, if you can call it that, about the two lamp fixture is the fixed position bulbs. You can raise or lower the fixture using something like Current's ceiling mounting kit. Even with that in mind I think the placement of lamps is perfect for the 48" tank it is designed for.

This is serious lighting for a high tech freshwater tank. Pressurized co2 is a must along with a consistent fertilizing regimen.

I am satisfied with this Current USA Sunpod fixture. I have experience with their product support. I feel confident suggesting the twin bulb fixture to others and giving it positive remarks. I also own the Current USA 36" Orbit and 48" Nova Extreme.
