30g Tank Photos

New 30g tank with Current USA Nova Extreme T5HOx2, AquaSoil Amazonia, AquaClear 70, Hydor NRG advanced regulator with custom co2 diffusor in filter intake.
I had some white sand and AquaSoil laying around so I had to use it... Naming your tank seems to be the thing to do so I named this Broken Bridge.

Reworked the rock on the right. Look at that tiny bit of Blyxa japonica, it took off.

This is what a new tank with AquaSoil looks like after 10 hours of diatom filter. The filter is disturbing the substrate causing more cloudiness but it eventually went clear from the filtration.

This is how much Ultricularia gramnifolia I started with. When I found out it grew better in this tank I added a few more tufts like this from my orginal shipment.

Broken Bridge - The Battle of Foregrounds
Well I tried to keep it plain and simple. But then a few different plants grew from nowhere and this sorta became a growout tank. I am redoing my 20g tank with AquaSoil and plan to relocate some plants and get back on track.
Look at the shadows in the back from the poor light spread of the Nova x2. The reflector is horrible. The 30g above is a thin 36x12x16 and would need two of these fixtures for a total of 156 watts!!! The Nova Extreme x2 is not a good choice for the moderate to high tech tank. Its doing just fine on my other low tech 30g tank with mosses and java ferns and at 78watts it's better choice then 96w power compact. I'm irritated by the fact the same bulbs/wattage will adequately light my 65g tank measuring 36x18x24. Expect to get what you pay for.

This is the new look. Nice selection of "Toninas" with Cryptocoryne cordata 'rosanervig'
The lighting was replaced with custom 2 bulb SLR fixture which covers the tank nicely. Working on growing nice foreground now. Plan on turning the other tanks lights out when I take pictures again.
